about

Many of us recognize the human need for the ancient rituals that mark the passing seasons, but dislike the religious aspect they often take ...

When the season is dark, wet and cold, bringing us the opportunity to spend more time indoors, eating and drinking, spending time with the family, we need a soundtrack to accompany those traditions. This is my contribution - 'Yuletime'.

Lyrically, I went back to basics, focusing on what our Pagan ancestors celebrated at this time of year ... the return of the Sun at the Winter solstice and the promise of a respite from the gloom.

Thank you to the 'Stacey Grove Choir' (Phil Senior & Sharon Butler), and to Dave Archer for Mastering the audio so beautifully.

lyrics

Yuletime

The cold winter storms are upon
Yule time, Yule time
And the darkest of days has begun
Yule time, Yule time
The winter solstice come
December 21
Time we had some fun
Let's celebrate the sun

Soon the sun will appear to ascend
New light, new light
To warm up the earth like an old friend
New light, new light
The old year spent and gone
A new one just begun
It’s time we had some fun
We’ll celebrate the sun

Soon the cold winter storms will be run
Hold on, hold on
The brightest of days yet to come
Hold on, hold on
The winter solstice done now
A rebirth has begun
Time we had some fun now
Let’s celebrate the sun

As the days grow longer they’ll bring
New life, new life
Returning the promise of spring
New life, new life
